ASSITEJ InternationalASSITEJ is the international organisation of Theatre for Children and Young People (Association International du Theatre pour l'Enfance et la Jeunesse). The organisation is affiliated to UNESCO and consists of a network of thousands of theatres, organisations and individual people in about 80 member countries. The network is the basis for an exchange of thoughts and ideas from theatre people throughout the world in order to promote the cultural rights of children and to present quality performing arts to the children of the world
ASSITEJ proposes to unite theatres, organizations and individuals throughout the world dedicated to theatre for children and young people.
ASSITEJ is dedicated to artistic, humanitarian, and educational efforts and no decision, action or statement of the Association shall be based on nationality, political conviction, cultural identity, ethnicity, or religion.
ASSITEJ exists because of a deep and long-standing belief in the necessity of theatre in the lives of children and young people.
ASSITEJ, a member-driven association with national centres on six continents, seeks to foster a healthy, vibrant and collaborative community of artists, administrators and educators that reaches across cultural and international boundaries.
ASSITEJ believes theatre happens at the magical place where artists and audiences intersect, and in our rapidly-changing world, the relevance of telling our young audiences stories of life as they were, as they are and as we wish them to be is increasingly important.
ASSITEJ knows that the future is in the hands of our children and young people and that providing inspiring theatre experiences helps give them tools to navigate this brave new world.
ASSITEJ promotes cultural diversity, upholds cultural identity and actively advances the importance of a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape for children and young people.
ASSITEJ assists in the development of artists and networks so that intercultural dialogue, innovation and excellence are an integral part of everyday practice.
ASSITEJ honours the voices of artists, children and young people, and provides open and free-flowing communication, information and exchange so that diverse and individual voices can thrive and grow.
